How It’s Done

Getting the CHI American Smoothing Treatment is fairly simple.

The product infuses amino acids, proteins, silk, and pearl into your hair resulting in healthier, stronger, smoother, shinier hair.

Your professional stylist will first perform a consultation on your hair and determine which smoothing formula (or combination thereof) is best suited for your hair type.

After a thorough cleanse with CHI’s specially formulated Purity Shampoo, the smoothing product will be applied to your damp hair and allowed to process for 10 to 20 minutes (depending on your formulation).

Next, without rinsing the product, your stylist will blow your hair out using a hair dryer and a round brush or a paddle brush. These specific tools are important for setting the smoothing product into your hair.

Next, your hair will be flat ironed, at 410 degrees to cure the product into your hair, with a flat iron. Each 1/8″ section of hair should be flat ironed five times. (see our GHD flat irons)

Your stylist may use a few drops of the CHI Enviro Smoothing Serum after flat ironing to add shine and manageability.

Now you’ll be free to go home until the next step in your Chi Smoothing Treatment.

PLEASE NOTE: It is recommended that you leave your hair down for the next 24 hours, without headbands, hair ties, or even sunglasses to hold your hair back off your head..

Your hair may feel a little weird, kind of like you forgot to rinse the conditioner out of your hair. This feeling is perfectly normal and may vary based on your hair and your stylist’s skill level at applying the product
